50 Dragons Online Casino Slot Review

Whenever a slots developer has a hit on their hands, one of the first orders of business is to make the most of the popularity and this generally involves releasing a similar game. If you have checked out our review of 5 Dragons, you will know that we were full of praise for the title and fully respect its position as an all-time classic. Given that it already made use of Reel Power, we would struggle to think of ways to make it bigger and better if we did not already know about 50 Dragons, but that is why Aristocrat is one of the biggest names in online slot development and we are not! So, let’s take a look at a game that could conceivably be described as being 5 Dragons on steroids, not least because there are 45 more of them!

The Style and Base Gameplay

The visuals on the game are unsurprisingly very similar to those found on 5 Dragons, although unlike on most pseudo-sequels, they are by no means identical. The playing card icons that are to be found on virtually all Aristocrat games from this generation continue to play their part, and they are joined by some creatively designed animal symbols that fans of Oriental slots will love.

The name of the game comes from the number of win lines, with the board having been extended to four rows of symbols and fifty win lines having been introduced to complement them nicely. In all honesty, we still prefer the Reel Power action of 5 Dragons over this one, but we know that there are some players that are far more comfortable with 50 standard win lines, and that is where 50 Dragons shines.

Features and Extras

There are two special symbols on the game, with the first of them being the pearl on the stand, which is the wild card. It can cover for any of the main icons and playing card symbols, and will only fail to substitute in for the golden ingot, which is the 50 Dragons scatter icon. These ingots only appear on reels one, two and three and players will be looking to land one on each of them in order to trigger the main bonus round on this game. As any Aristocrat fan will be able to guess, that bonus round specifically involves free spins.

The free spins can be retriggered within the round, with another batch of three ingots adding five more to the total and the key difference between free spins and regular play, outside of them not costing anything, is that an additional pearl wild is added somewhere on the first, second, third or fourth reel. When a wild is in place, it will remain there until the round comes to an end, so we can see why the retriggered spins are somewhat miserly! As the round draws to a close, you can expect to be making use of quite a few bonus wilds, to the point that the latter spins are essentially win spins compared to just free ones!

Our Thoughts on Aristocrat's 50 Dragons

50 Dragons falls firmly in line with what we would expect from an Aristocrat game from this time period and we have to say that it does still hold up well as a fun game to play online. As with many Aristocrat slots, the main audience will be players that love the land based version, but we would still say that other players that have never actually seen it before should still give the game some consideration.
